Salt & Pearl washes yacht and boat decks and hulls above the waterline in Knysna, by hand. Teak is cleaned with soft brushes, never high pressure. Prices start at R40 per foot (minimum R1,500), and every job ends with a before-and-after photo report on WhatsApp.
What's included
- Teak decks cleaned with a soft brush and a teak-appropriate cleaner, worked across the grain so the soft wood isn't dug out.
- Gelcoat and non-slip scrubbed to lift salt, grime, footprints and bird mess.
- Cockpit, seating and lockers wiped down and rinsed.
- Hull sides above the waterline washed to remove salt crust and waterline scum.
- Windows, hatches and canopy rinsed with fresh water so they dry clear.
- Photo report sent to your WhatsApp when the job is done.
Why we never pressure wash teak
Teak is made of hard grain and much softer wood in between. A pressure washer blasts the soft wood away, leaving a ridged, furry surface that holds dirt and wears out years early. We clean teak by hand instead, so it comes up clean and keeps its life.
How much does a deck and hull wash cost?
We price by the boat's length. The table below shows typical ranges for a one-off wash; the final price depends on condition and access, and we confirm a fixed quote from your photos before any work starts.
| Boat length | Deck & hull wash |
|---|---|
| 25 ft | R1,500 – R2,000 |
| 32 ft | R1,500 – R2,550 |
| 40 ft | R1,600 – R3,200 |
| 50 ft | R2,000 – R4,000 |
Want stainless polished at the same time? Our Arrival Ready package combines both.
When to book
For a clean before the December holidays, book as early as you can. If riggers, mechanics or other contractors are working on the boat first, tell us. We'll schedule the clean after they're finished so you arrive to a spotless deck, not their footprints.
Questions about deck & hull cleaning
Do you clean below the waterline?
No. Our deck and hull wash covers everything above the waterline. Below-waterline cleaning needs a diver or a haul-out, which we don't offer.
How long does a deck and hull wash take?
It depends on the size and condition of the boat. Most jobs are done in a single visit, and we'll tell you the expected time when we quote.
Do I need to be on board?
No. Many owners book while they're away. We arrange access with your marina, skipper or caretaker and send photos when we're done.
